If you own and operate a local business, my story may sound a lot like yours.

Several years ago I found myself crossing paths with a locally-based home services company by chance.

Over the next few years, I developed a deep appreciation for the craft of delivering critical services directly to the community and all the nuances it entails—customer service, sales, and building trust.

Like any service provider, I use a variety of tools to fix or improve things. You could say that my job is easy to learn, but like most skills, it truly takes years to master.

I found that my experience fit very well into promoting service brands, and business owners were eager to bring in an expert to solve their marketing problems and generate more attention, interest, and leads.

In marketing, I found my calling.

I also quickly learned that the trades are brimming with honest, hardworking people. Folks who roll up their sleeves to get things done, and aren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty.

In home services, I found my tribe.

How It Started

In 2019, I was brought on as the first dedicated marketer at a mid-size home services company.

I had been in the full-time workforce as a marketing pro for a decade, so this was not my first rodeo. But it was my first encounter the trades.

We had a clear advantage in our area due to the size and maturity of the business, but I could see there was risk of losing market share. Some areas of branding and digital marketing needed serious work.

With a combination of website development, forward-thinking tracking strategies, SEO initiatives, branding improvements, and improvements made in other areas of the business, we were able to reach some incredible growth and budget milestones within five years:
